January 2014

We had our annual yearend meeting at Golden Corral in Pocatello. We had dinner and ate too much. Then we renewed our memberships and voted for our new board. Barbara passed out the awards members and their horses had earned. They then ended the silent auction and gave the winners their items.

We are just beginning a brand new year, 2014 is going to be a great year, right? Let's work on making it the best!! We had a wonderful club banquet at Golden Corral in Chubbuck and ate too much. We renewed our memberships and voted for our club officials. Then awards were handed out and the silent auction was a ton of fun. If you weren't there you missed out on a great evening.

INTERMOUNTAIN APPALOOSA HORSE CLUB ANNUAL BANQUET

 On January 26 2013 the annual banquet will be at the Idaho Falls Eagles Lodge at 635 Hemmert Drive at 6:00 . There will be a happy hour no host bar at 5:45. There will be a meeting following dinner and a live band "The Westerners" following the meeting. 2013 membership dues need to be paid prior to voting for a new president, vice president, secretary and 2 new board members.There will be door prizes and a silent auction. Prime rib dinner is 12.00 per plate all are welcome but to insure a meal you must RSVP by Jan 19 to Brian Cook 745-5016. See ya there!

The IApHC Annual Fall Ride will be at Harriman State Park in Island Park on Sept. 29. All are invited to ride and hear the elk bugle. 
Meet at Mitchell's Truck stop off hwy20 in Idaho Falls at 11:00 am to caravan to Harriman. (or) turn off hwy20 at the Harriman park marker. Go 1/4 mile to the park entrance on the right. Get 5.00 vehicle pass at visitor center or kiosk station. Bear left to Ranch View parking lot for trailer parking. There will be a 5.00 fee per rider to cover advertising costs. We plan to leave the trail head by 1:00 with Boyd Christiansen as trail boss.
Bring lunch-water-jacket and/or rain gear-sun screen- mosquito spray-camera and a flash light as it will be getting dark by the time we are back to the trailers.

We had a very good Spring Trail Ride on Cedar Butte. Everyone had fun riding and everyone young and old won a prize.We couldnt have done it without the wonderful help. Thank-you Joan Forsberg for all your and Jaime's help and wonderful prizes you donated. Also Jesse and Mi Lee, thank-you for all your help. Would not have been able to do it without you either. Thank- you to all the riders that came out to ride the Cedar Butte with us!

SPRING TRAIL RIDE AND POKER RUN

 

WILL BE AT CEDAR BUTTE ON MAY 19. BE READY TO RIDE AT  10 AM WITH POLUCK FOLLOWING THE RIDE. WE HAVE A GIFT CERTIFICATE TO MOUNTAIN RIVER RANCH FOR 2 FOR  TOP HAND!For information call Joan 684-4060 or Sandy 684-3237. DIRECTIONS FROM Idaho Falls, on Interstate 15 take hiway 20 heading toward Arco. Go approximately 42 miles, at flashing light turn left onto hiway 26. Continue on to Atomic City,turn right at Magee's and go about 1 1/2 miles and make a left turn on Big Butte Road. Go about 1 1/2 miles and make a right. Follow this road to a sign for trail ride on the left side of the road.    DIRECTIONS FROM Pocatello on Interstate 15 heading toward Blackfoot, take exit 93, turn left at the end of the ramp,this will put you on 26W heading toward Arco.go about 27 1/2 miles and turn left at Magee's. Go about 1 1/2 miles and make a left on Big Butte Road, go about 1 1/2 miles and make a right turn, follow the road until you see a trail ride sign on the left side of the road.WE HAVE SIGNS FROM MAGEE'S TO THE RIDE AREA.
A big thank for an awesome Emergency Safety Trail class ! Those of you who weren't there you missed a very good clinic. Dave Woodcock from the forest service had a wonderful trail safety class and then Barbara and Shaun did a wonderful first aid class that had tons of information! We learned a lot and had a good time. Thank you to the Back Country Horseman for helping with this also.
